A total of 28 local authorities’ Revenues and Benefits departments have upgraded their Comino Electronic Document Management (EDM) solution to ensure they deliver a consistent level of customer service and improve administrative efficiency and productivity.
As an established EDM supplier, Comino has not only been upgrading high numbers of existing customers using its Universal Revenues and Benefits (URB) solution but also signing new contracts with councils across the UK. The company’s presence within the market has continued to strengthen as the Government’s initiative to get all council services online by the end of 2005 nears its deadline.
Comino’s URB replaces laborious paper-based filing systems in Revenues and Benefits departments with an electronic solution. Local authorities are able to store, access and amend documents electronically, enabling staff to create and retrieve citizen files quickly and easily. An integrated Document Imaging Processing (DIP) facility enables the scanning of all documents, removing the need for photocopies and associated physical storage space.
Dumfries and Galloway Council is one local authority currently upgrading its Comino URB solution. “We have been working with Comino for more than four years and we wanted to extend this strong and proven relationship with the upgrading of their solution in our Revenues and Benefits department,” comments Ed Parkhouse, Operations Manager, Revenues and Exchequer Services, Dumfries and Galloway Council.
“In our experience, very few benefit applications are received first time with all of the information and details required to process the claim. Requesting and managing the remaining information manually consumes a great deal of time and effort. Having EDM and workflow in place though removes this headache and will help us reduce processing times by around seven days.”
