Civica expands local government presence in New Zealand with acquisition in South Island
Local government software vendor Civica has acquired electionz.com’s local government business in New Zealand.
Acquiring the Christchurch-based local government software division provides strategic expansion into the South Island and significantly increases the company’s market position in New Zealand.
The acquisition includes the existing electionz.com local government customer base, intellectual property rights to the electionz.com local government software applications and all associated assets.
The electionz.com local government customer service and support staff have joined Civica and will continue to provide support to customers in line with existing arrangements.
The move follows Civica’s acquisition of Fujitsu’s local authorities business in New Zealand and Australia in May 2008, when the company opened an office in Auckland to support NZ operations, establishing a dedicated sales, account management and customer service team.
“The latest acquisition reinforces our strong commitment to building a presence in the New Zealand market,” says CEO, Civica International, Peter Anderson. “In addition to expanding market share, gaining an office in the South Island is of strategic importance in our quest to strengthen our presence in New Zealand.
The company has continued to see market success and growth in New Zealand with Matamata-Piako, Hauraki and Timaru Councils choosing to move to the company’s market-leading Authority enterprise application for local government in the past six months.
Civica also announced today the acquisition of Practical Computer Services Pty Ltd’s local government business in Australia. Acquiring the Queensland-based company gives Civica a significant increase in market presence in Queensland and New South Wales.
